Heaven on Earth

Eagle Crags near Zion National Park

I don’t sleep well.  Maybe I do…maybe I just don’t need a lot of sleep.  I’ve been waking up between 2 – 4 am every morning the past week.  Yesterday I brewed my coffee sometime before 4, enjoying it before the rest of the world wakes up.  At least before the rest of the Springdale – Zion National Park world wakes up.

It’s just before 7:30 am and the sun has not made it over the mountains yet, but it is shining on the Eagle Crags.  I’m sitting with a cuppa at the Park House Cafe, enjoying the sunrise and a couple of hummingbirds chirping and flying around the flowers next to my table.  They serve one of my favorite coffees – Cafe Ibis, the Mexican Chiapas roast.

Today I feel awake and rested after days of not.  This is a good thing – much work to do.  To be in Zion is heaven.  To live and work in Springdale is heaven on earth.
