The Art of Mindful Living

“When we are mindful, deeply in touch with the present moment, our understanding of what is going on deepens, and we begin to be filled with acceptance, joy, peace and love.”  –Thich Nhat Hanh

Flowers on a Walking Meditation

When I hear the word, ‘mindfulness‘ I think of both Thich Nhat Hanh and a book he wrote, The Miracle of Mindfulness:  An Introduction to the Practice of Meditation, which is easily found on-line at was well as local new and used bookstores.  Another great book is Wherever You Go, There You Are by Jon Kabat-Zinn, a book I read after reading The Miracle of Mindfulness.

A short video clip from Thich Nhat Hanh’s Mindful Living Every Day:

Today’ theme is Mindfulness, pulled from A Season for Peace & Non-Violence on Mindfulness:

If we just act in each moment, with composure and mindfulness, each minute of our life is a work of art. Be aware of the motivation behind your action, the intention behind your words, and the needs and experiences of other people. By doing so, you are making life beautiful for others.
