I’m reading The Path by Laurie Beth Jones, a book I read 16 years ago and for some reason it reminded me of a poem written by Walt Gilbert. He is a resident and musician in the Okanogan “Good Medicine” Valley in the state of Washington and shared the poem with me a few weeks ago that he wrote. The inspiration came from latte froth designs that Melanie Mills, owner of Salmon Creek Coffee Company was working on.
A Cuppa Cappuccino by Walt Gilbert
The aroma enhancing the air
Drifts to and fro
It fills our senses, connects our spirits
We share it as one
As it rises from a mug so fine.
A cuppa cappuccino
A centerpiece of art
Displayed for feasting eyes like fancy desserts
Where real yuppies dine.
It challenges me
It questions my soul
How to taste the brew ‘neath the froth
And not ruin the design.
Inspiration found in the everyday.
Thank you, Walt.
