Brad Meinert's Heaven on Earth in Springdale, Utah
This morning I was told that Bradley Meinert passed away yesterday. He was an arborist I met almost a year ago in Virgin, Utah at the Red Coyote Cafe and then again at the Grower’s Market next to Virgin Goods Book Store.

One morning he called me and told me that he didn’t care that I wasn’t feeling great, that I needed to meet him in Springdale right away, where he was trimming trees. When I got there he took me up in the bucket to see a dove nesting. Then he turned around and told me that he had the best job – he was trimming trees in heaven. He felt lucky to be here in this beautiful area doing what he loved – trimming trees.

Brad helped plant a garden at The Park House Cafe in Springdale, Utah.
I know he’s in heaven because he lived it here, trimming trees, gardening, and hanging out with his friends.

Thank You Kristy for the nice space to share our feelings. Brad has been our friend since 1975, he was always quick with a smile and loved to laugh in that voice that would crack into a giggle. he made the best chile rellenos ever and he was undoubtedly the cottonwood whisperer, divining their secrets from the crown. The best about Brad was his helpful generous nature, willing to lend a hand in the dirtiest of endeavors. I last spent time with him on the Gates of Lodore. He was relaxed and happy, we will miss you brother.

“The Cottonwood Whisperer” – yes! What a great way to describe him. He made his Dutch Oven Chile Rellenos this summer for me and they were delicious. He always seemed to show up at the doorstep when I needed someone to snap me out of my funks and his smile, laugh, and/or straightforward nature did that for me.
He was a kind and gentle soul. I wish his soul well.
The most memorable part of Brad was his gentleness, and it seems he was always smiling. Even though I hadn’t seen Brad in many years, he was still a friend and brother.
I am so happy to see pictures of Brad doing what he loved. Thank you for posting these. I will miss him every time I look at a beautiful tree (or a sunset on red cliffs, river, ski slope, pot of beans, hot chilies, creative garden, nice smile, on and on). What a happy go lucky guy he was and I’m sure, is. Wherever he is, I’m sure it is beautiful and better off for having him. He’s been trimming heaven’s trees for a while now, so I’m pretty sure he’ll have plenty of work.
If it is a big tree in Southern Utah and beautifully shaped and cared for, chances are it is one of Brad’s. His passing is a great loss to many, but so much more so for those that really knew him.

I played in local bands for 30 years. I knew the minute Bradley walked through the door it was going to be a good night. He was always the dancing man and got every woman up on the floor to swing dance or just rock n roll. He was also a joy to watch in his garden. It was his calm place and his excitement for trying new combinations of mulch and manure was never boring. Thanks Brad for giving great tips to Rich and I for our garden and trimming our trees over the last 10 years. We have 3 of the finest 60 year old trimmed mulberry trees in the middle of St George. We will definitely bring some mulburry wood to burn in his memory. It will be good to see all those that loved him and share stories and pictures. Peace to Mark and the rest of his family.
